How to buy well on ebay.

It's important to do some research first, Know what you're after and look at a few auctions first to see what sort of price the item is going for.

Plan paying for your item. If it's something that might not be received immediately then remember paypal's protection runs out after a certain amount of time. Paypal does have a good dispute system otherwise though.

Read item descriptions carefully. How much is P&P? Ask a question if you don't have all the information you need. Do not make assumptions. Be extra careful with expensive items like laptops and mobiles. Ask about returns if informatino is not given.

You can if you are concerned ask for the serial number and then check this using a service that costs a few pounds but checks to make sure the item isn't stolen.

What feedback does the seller have? Are they a trader? Do they have lots of positive feedback?

What is the actual value of the item - judge this by how much they go for on ebay or how much they are in a shop.

Is the item legal? Some things listed might not be permitted in the UK and might get stopped at customs.

Work out how much you want to pay including postage. If something is rare then you might have to pay more for it but if lots are being sold look for the buy it nows.

Every bid should be a serious one. Don't bid on multiple items unless you are using ebay's own special system called BIDDER SYSTEM - this can help you get an item if you don't win the first one listed.

Look for the PayPal Buyer Protection symbol which gives you are eligible for up to £500.00 Buyer Protection at no additional cost in the event that you do not receive the item, or that the item you receive is significantly not as described.
